Introduction

Business Leadership Institute (“BLI”, “we”, “us”) operates ELIS – the Early Learning Interactive System. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit this website or use an ELIS membership, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

We keep this deliberately plain. If anything here is unclear, email support@elis.bli.org and a real person will answer.

Information We Collect

We collect three kinds of information:

  • Information you give us – your name, email address, phone number, business name, role, mailing address, and the content of any message, form, or support request you send.
  • Information created by using ELIS – the pages and resources you open, the templates you download, the questions you ask the AI assistant, your membership status, and your billing history.
  • Information collected automatically – IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, and timestamps, gathered through cookies and similar technologies.

We do not ask for and do not want information about the children in your care. Please keep children’s records out of support tickets and AI prompts.

How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to run the service you asked for and to make it better. Specifically, we use it to create and manage your account, deliver membership content, process payments and renewals, answer support requests, personalize the guidance you see, send service messages such as receipts and renewal reminders, monitor security and prevent fraud, understand which resources members actually find useful, and meet our legal and accounting obligations.

With your consent we also send marketing email about new ELIS features, training, and resources. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing never affects your membership or the service messages you need.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for three purposes: essential cookies that keep you logged in and remember your cart, preference cookies that remember settings such as dismissed banners, and analytics cookies that tell us, in aggregate, which pages and resources are being used.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers let you refuse third-party cookies specifically. If you turn off essential cookies, parts of ELIS such as login and checkout will stop working. We honour recognized browser signals for opting out of sale or sharing of personal information, including Global Privacy Control.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these situations:

  • Service providers who work on our behalf – payment processing, hosting, email delivery, customer support tooling, analytics, and the AI providers that power in-platform guidance – and only to the extent they need it to do that work.
  • Legal reasons – when we must comply with a law, court order, or lawful request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of members, the public, or BLI.
  • Business transfers – if BLI is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, member information may transfer with the business; we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Payment Processing

Membership and add-on purchases are handled by PCI-compliant third-party payment processors. Your full card number never reaches ELIS servers and we never store it. We retain only what we need to service your account: the card brand, the last four digits, the expiry date, and the record of each transaction.

The processor handles your payment details under its own privacy policy and security program. If you dispute a charge, we may share the transaction record with the processor and your bank to resolve it.

Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it. Account and profile data is kept while your membership is active and for up to 24 months after it closes, so that you can reactivate without starting over. Billing and tax records are kept for seven years because U.S. tax rules require it. Support conversations are kept for 24 months. Analytics data is kept in aggregated, non-identifying form.

You can ask us to delete your information sooner, and we will do so unless we are legally required to keep a specific record.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask for a portable copy, opt out of marketing, opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and be free from discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

To make a request, email support@elis.bli.org from the address on your account. We will confirm your identity, respond within 45 days, and tell you if we need more time. You may also use an authorized agent, in which case we will ask for written proof of authority.

Children's Privacy

ELIS is a business tool for adults who run early learning programs. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact support@elis.bli.org and we will delete it promptly. Members must not upload records about the children enrolled in their programs into ELIS.

Security

We protect member information with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted storage, role-based access limited to staff who need it, regular software patching, and monitoring for unusual activity. Payment data is handled entirely by our PCI-compliant processor.

No online service can promise perfect security. Use a strong, unique password, do not share your login, and tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as ELIS changes or as privacy law develops. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

If a change materially affects how we handle your personal information, we will email active members and, where required, ask for your consent before the change takes effect.
